Sometimes, the most magnificent things are right in your back yard, patiently waiting for you to notice them while your eyes are busy discovering and exploring sites much more distant from where you stand.

The majestic mountain ranges of Europe are all-embracing – familiar and secret, approachable and unexplored, common and mysterious. My expedition to the magnificent mountains of Alps and Dolomites required almost two months, crossing borders of seven countries, with sometimes immeasurable amounts of effort, persistence and solitude. I have discovered countless places where I was left breathless, in awe in front of monumental shrines of nature.
