The human eye can only perceive a small part of the luminous spectrum. Infrared photography is able to capture waves beyond the range of perception, showing us light that is invisible to the naked eye.

Melancholia is a short time-lapse film shot in Iceland during the summer solstice of 2013, using modified infrared Sony DSLR camera. For 12 days, I explored and photographed the South Coast and the Snæfellsnes peninsula. I looked for perfect scenery to be represented in infrared: direct sunlight, green grass and blue skies are a must in infrared photography, and work even better if combined – something not easy to find in Iceland.
